* They felt secure and therefore began to dwell carelessly.

Joshua 18:7 ... Then the five men departed, and came to Laish, and saw the people that were therein, how they dwelt careless, after the manner of the Zidonians, quiet and secure; and there was no magistrate in the land, that might put them to shame in any thing;

I thought of the people of this world today, who do what pleases their own flesh and "dwell carelessly," thinking themselves to be secure to do as they will to do.

I also think of the church world where there is little or no correction from God at their gatherings and how they think themselves to be secure in whatever they want to do.

It reminds me of a dream I was given long ago.

There was a run away stagecoach with no driver.  Looking out the window of the carriage, was a silly woman who had long blond curled strings of hair and had a silly grin on her face.  The driverless horses were racing toward a cliff and she had no idea she was in danger.

I Thessalonians 5:2-3       the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night.  For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape.

4-6    But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief.  Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness.
Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober.

I Peter 5:8-9     Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:   Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world.

I Timothy 4:14    Till I come, give attendance to reading, to exhortation, to doctrine.

This I do daily, 7 days a week.

I recommend this as a pattern of life for you also.

We must not become lax as many do today.  Instead as we see the day of the Lord draw nearer, we must pick up the pace of renewing our minds to Bible and to godly exhortations.

For as we draw nearer to the end and the coming of Jesus, the wickedness grows greater and the devil becomes even more intense.

During the past year, I've seen 2 women who  have been in our little church group for 40-years depart from us.

Seducing spirits and doctrines of devils in the church are rampant.

I Timothy 4:1    Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils;

If we choose a "careless" way of life, thinking there is no problem, we might be swept away.

The "god" created today in the minds of both the world and the churches is so very different from the God of the Bible which I read about.

The God of judgment, who hates evil, is the God of the Bible.  And with the return of Jesus, the judgment of God comes.  No one will be able to explain this away as they explain away scriptures today in the churches and in the world.
